This was my most challenging painting to date. The source I used was a grainy video that was discovered a few years ago of the Chofetz Chaim. Using AI I was able to enhance the picture slightly but it was still a huge challenge. I chose to paint the Chofetz Chaim in a brown coat to make him stand out from the people surrounding him and I intuited that it fit the time period. Often artists choose to blur out extra faces or paint them with little detail so as not to distract from the main subject. However I felt that in this painting, the men escorting the Chofetz Chaim help generate the tangible energy at the excitement of being in his presence, my hope is that seeing this painting gives a taste of that feeling.
